Google Doodle Animated Evidence of Water Found on Mars

The new animated Google Doodle to celebrate the evidence of water found on Mars.

Today’s news stirred us like a long, cool drink in the blistering heat. Science has gestured at the presence of water on Mars before, but evidence of liquid water--briny, creeping flows that appear in a crater during Martian summers--has tremendous implications in the search for life beyond our planet. We felt compelled to honor such an exciting discovery with a Doodle, and staring at satellite images of Mars for inspiration made Doodler Nate Swinehart really, really thirsty.

Marc Marquez & Dani Pedrosa - 2015 Motogp Aragon Grand Prix

2015 Motogp Aragon Grand Prix: Reepsol Honda drivers Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa (2nd) talks about the race.

It was a day of mixed emotions at the Aragon GP for the Repsol Honda Team as Dani Pedrosa was engrossed in an historic battle with Valentino Rossi – coming out on top to take second place – but pole man Marc Marquez sadly crashed out.

As the race got underway, Marc dropped back to third from pole but managed to get back up to second by the end of the first lap and slot in behind race leader Jorge Lorenzo. Meanwhile Dani had made up a position and was in fourth behind Andrea Iannone. As Marc chased down Lorenzo on lap two, he made a small mistake in Turn 12 and lost the front. The bike slid into the gravel and was too badly damaged to allow Marc to continue.

Dani pushed on and by lap three he had passed Iannone into second place, by lap four he had Rossi on his back wheel. This remained the story for the following fifteen laps, with just hundredths of a second separating the two riders. Then with five laps remaining Rossi began to try and pass but each time Dani was able to respond and pass Rossi back. This continued for the remainder of the race, with Dani showing great determination to battle with Rossi – passing each other several times – and not give up on the second spot of the podium. On the final lap, Rossi passed Dani, but again Dani reacted and passed him back in Turn 7 and was able to hold on to beat him to the chequered flag by just 0.090 seconds.

Marc remains in 3rd place in the standings on 184 and Dani still 7th with 129 points.

Lorenzo Wins Aragón Motogp 2015 - Pedrosa 2nd Rossi 3th

Movistar Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo wins Aragon Grand Prix: Pedrosa 2nd and Valentino Rossi 3th; Marquez crashes.

Lorenzo Lands Aragón Victory as Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Locks up Team World Title

Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo secured his sixth win of the season and 60th Grand Prix win over all classes with a heroic ride at the challenging MotorLand Aragón circuit. Valentino Rossi also fought bravely to secure third in the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón, giving the team, which shares the same title sponsor, its eighth double podium of the season and the Team World Championship Title.

Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team‘s Jorge Lorenzo was on another level today at the Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón and took a stunning victory. Valentino Rossi had the Spanish crowd at MotorLand Aragón gasping for air as he entertained them with a sensational battle for second place in which he came just 0.090s short.

Lorenzo made a flying start from second on the grid to lead the MotoGP field into turn one with rival Marc Marquez in pursuit. The Yamaha rider showed his usual stunning pace on the opening lap, creating an advantage of over half a second as they headed into the second lap. Marquez tried to stay on the heels of Lorenzo, but was unable to keep up with his blistering pace and with 22 laps to go he crashed out.

By then Lorenzo already had a more than 1.7s advantage over the chasing group fighting for second, including Andrea Iannone, Dani Pedrosa and Valentino Rossi. As they dueled, Lorenzo in no time built up a margin of over three seconds, which he managed beautifully. It was a lonely race for the Spaniard, but his incredible consistency proved unbeatable today. With no rider able to match his pace, Lorenzo crossed the finish line with a convincing 2.683 seconds advantage over the rider in second place, and clinched the by himself designed Gran Premio Movistar de Aragón trophy.

Rossi defended his lead in the championship with tooth and nail today. He held his sixth grid position off the line going into turn one, and soon moved up the order as he overtook Pol Espargarò. The Italian, promoted to fourth by Marquez‘s crash, was able to get hold of a provisional third place podium spot when he overtook Iannone on lap four.

Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez has taken a magnificent pole position – his seventh of the season – for tomorrow’s Aragon GP breaking his 2014 pole record (1’47.187) by over half a second. Teammate Dani Pedrosa had a provisional front row for the majority of the session but was demoted in the final moments and will start from 5th place.
The Repsol Honda’s have had a strong second day in Aragon, with Marc leading this morning’s FP3 session and Dani topping FP4. On his first flying lap of qualifying, Marc obliterated his own pole record by 0.552 seconds with his time of 1’46.635 (lap 2/7), sending him straight to the top, with Dani also taking a provisional front row place on his first exit.

2015 Total Lunar Eclipse Animation: Telescopic View of the Moon

Typically, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft flies over the night side of the Moon every two hours, spending about 45 minutes in darkness. Because LRO is powered by sunlight, it uses a rechargeable battery to operate while on the night side of the Moon and then charges the battery when it comes back around into daylight.
During the total lunar eclipse of September 27-28, 2015, however, LRO emerges from the night side of the Moon only to find the Sun blocked by the Earth. LRO needs to travel an entire orbit before seeing the Sun again, relying continuously on its battery for almost three hours.

SuperMoon Total Lunar Eclipse (9/25/2015)

Video preview of  SuperMoon Total Lunar Eclipse (9/25/2015).

LEAD: Step outside on Sunday evening (September 27th) to see a special astronomical event: a supermoon total lunar eclipse.

1. At 9:07 p.m. EDT the moon will start to enter Earth’s shadow. An hour later, the moon will appear a ghostly copper color. The change in color will last for over an hour as the moon passes through Earth’s central shadow and is illuminated by filtered sunlight passing through Earth’s atmosphere.

2. As the moon orbits Earth, it has a farthest point in its orbit (apogee) and closest point (perigee). On Sunday, the full moon occurs during the closest perigee of the year. This is sometimes called a supermoon.

3. Supermoons occur *on average* every 14 months. But what’s special about Sunday’s supermoon is that it will happen during a total lunar eclipse.

TAG: The next supermoon total lunar eclipse won't happen until 2033

Pop Francis Congress Speech "Heal the World!" - Video

Voanews video about the Pope Francis congress Speech: "Heal the world!".

The atmosphere inside the House chamber was electric. Nearly all of the 535 members of the House and Senate were present, along with four Supreme Court justices and several presidential candidates, including Senators Marco Rubio, Bernie Sanders and Lindsey Graham, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and neurosurgeon Ben Carson.

Tickets were hard to get to witness Pope Francis make history Thursday as the first leader of the Roman Catholic Church to address a joint meeting of Congress.  The occasion had the feeling of a presidential inauguration and a State of the Union address rolled into one. But it was less partisan in tone and the reactions to it were less mixed.

The pontiff from Argentina, whose first language is Spanish, spoke softly, slowly and deliberately in accented English. Lawmakers listened attentively, many of them on the edge of their chairs.

Although his manner was gentle, Pope Francis quickly made the point that every member of Congress has a responsibility to work tirelessly for the common good. He called on Congress to break out of the cycle of polarization and paralysis, to work together to “heal the world’s open wounds.”

His call for a “renewed spirit of cooperation” comes at a time when the divisive Congress may be only one week away from triggering a partial government shutdown.

'Golden Rule' applies to migrants

Pope Francis made the Golden Rule from the Bible's New Testament the cornerstone of his speech: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." He applied it to the Syrian refugee crisis and to the thousands of migrants from Latin America who travel north to the United States in search of a better life.

Democrats in the chamber, most of whom support immigration reform, applauded enthusiastically when Francis said foreigners should not be feared "because most of us were once foreigners."

He challenged everyone not to see migrants as numbers, but as faces.

“The yardstick we use for others is the yardstick which time will use for us,” he said.

The pope also spoke clearly about human activity causing climate change, saying Congress has an important role to play in minimizing the damage caused by environmental degradation.

The pope explicitly called for the abolition of the death penalty and said society can benefit from the rehabilitation of those convicted of crimes.

Francis’ plea for the sanctity of marriage and the family, and respect for life at all stages won him an enthusiastic standing ovation from Republicans, while some Democrats did not applaud.

But overall, the pope was received warmly and with respect by all of the members.

Lawmakers were on their best behavior, after having received guidance and pleas from congressional leaders. Heeding instructions, members let the pontiff walk down the center aisle to deliver the speech without trying to shake his hand or hug him.

Rare moment of unity

It was a rare moment of unity for a Congress that is bitterly divided on a number of substantive issues.

Republican Representative Michael McCaul said the pope was not speaking as a Democrat or a Republican, but as someone giving moral direction. The word most often used by lawmakers to describe the speech was “extraordinary.”

House Speaker John Boehner wept openly several times, both during the speech and afterwards. As a devout Catholic, Boehner said he prayed for the pope every day growing up, and that standing next to one was a “humbling experience.”

In a written statement, Boehner said: “Let us all go forth and live up to the words.”

Democratic Minority leader Nancy Pelosi is also a devout Catholic. She released a statement saying: “Standing in the very heart of our democracy, Pope Francis spoke to the better angels of our nature and of the American people. He reminded us of our sacred and inescapable responsibility to those struggling to escape poverty, persecution and war.”

Presidential candidates react

Republican presidential candidate and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie had a spot up in the Visitor’s Gallery. He told VOA he thought the speech was “great.”

Republican Senator Ted Cruz, who also is seeking his party's presidential nomination in 2016, had this say to VOA about the pope’s call for compassion for migrants: “When we speak of welcoming immigrants, I believe that should refer to legal immigrants.”

Independent Senator Bernie Sanders, who is running for president as a Democrat, also used part of the pope's speech to highlight his main campaign issue, telling VOA: “Most importantly, what he said today: the function of an economy is not just to make the rich richer; the function of the economy is to serve all the people."

Pope Francis at New York City's Fifth Avenue

Voanews video about Pope  Francis blessing faithful along New York City's Fifth Avenue. On his first day in New York City, Pope Francis delighted thousands who lined the street to get a quick glimpse of him.

Catholic schoolgirls from the Dominican Academy and St. George Academy won a contest at their school to stand along the route,

A group of Catholic schoolgirls from the Dominican Academy and St. George Academy won a contest at their school to stand along the route. They waited three hours before the pope drove right in front of them. Then he stopped, turned toward them and made the sign of the cross.

Stephanie Redman broke into tears. "I've always loved every pope the Catholic Church has had, like Pope John Paul. I've always loved them and looked up to them. I have little cards of them in my room. To actually see him walk by is such a great experience," she said.

Olivia Lashishka squealed with delight as she hugged her classmates. "I feel like I was surrounded by family because we all have the same beliefs," she said. "He was blessing us. I feel really grateful."

Rare chance

High school sophomore Sean De Ganon won a school raffle and invited his friend Emily Gefell for a chance to see the pope. She called it a "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

De Ganon views Pope Francis as a different type of pope from those in the past. "He's much more tolerant of social issues and forgiving," he said. "Going to a Jesuit school and seeing a pope who's a Jesuit is a new experience.  You feel connected to him."

From Mexico

Alejandro Flores Sanchez brought his pregnant wife and 2-year-old daughter, Alexa, from Mexico City two days ago for a chance to see the pope. He stood along the fence with Alexa on his shoulders, hoping for a blessing for all his children, including his twin 6-month-old sons back home in Mexico City.

“We’re really excited," he said. "We really hope that the pope can bless this kid, the one my wife has in her belly and the two we have at home.”

To Sanchez, the pope transcends his humanity: "He's the best friend of God. It's a matter of faith. You have to make sure your kids learn that from us, as fathers. I think he's the contact of God with us and the symbol of the church.  He's more than a man."

After traveling by the crowds gathered on Fifth Avenue, the pope entered St. Patrick's Cathedral and offered evening prayers before an invited group of bishops, priests, deacons and faithful church workers.

President Obama & Pope Francis Meeting - Ceremony Video

PRESIDENT OBAMA:  Good morning.

AUDIENCE:  Good morning!  (Applause.)

PRESIDENT OBAMA:  What a beautiful day the Lord has made.  Holy Father, on behalf of Michelle and myself, welcome to the White House.  (Applause.)  I should explain that our backyard is not typically this crowded -- (laughter) -- but the size and spirit of today’s gathering is just a small reflection of the deep devotion of some 70 million American Catholics.  (Applause.)  It reflects, as well, the way that your message of love and hope has inspired so many people across our nation and around the world.  So on behalf of the American people, it is my great honor and privilege to welcome you to the United States of America.  (Applause.)

Today, we mark many firsts.  Your Holiness, you have been celebrated as the first Pope from the Americas.  (Applause.) This is your first visit to the United States.  (Applause.)  And you are also the first pontiff to share an encyclical through a Twitter account.  (Laughter.)

Holy Father, your visit not only allows us, in some small way, to reciprocate the extraordinary hospitality that you extended to me at the Vatican last year.  It also reveals how much all Americans, from every background and every faith, value the role that the Catholic Church plays in strengthening America.  (Applause.)  From my time working in impoverished neighborhoods with the Catholic Church in Chicago, to my travels as President, I’ve seen firsthand how, every single day, Catholic communities, priests, nuns, laity are feeding the hungry, healing the sick, sheltering the homeless, educating our children, and fortifying the faith that sustains so many.

And what is true in America is true around the world.  From the busy streets of Buenos Aires to the remote villages in Kenya, Catholic organizations serve the poor, minister to prisoners, build schools, build homes, operate orphanages and hospitals.  And just as the Church has stood with those struggling to break the chains of poverty, the Church so often has given voice and hope to those seeking to break the chains of violence and oppression.

And yet, I believe the excitement around your visit, Holy Father, must be attributed not only to your role as Pope, but to your unique qualities as a person.  (Applause.)  In your humility, your embrace of simplicity, in the gentleness of your words and the generosity of your spirit, we see a living example of Jesus’ teachings, a leader whose moral authority comes not just through words but also through deeds.  (Applause.)

You call on all of us, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, to put the “least of these” at the center of our concerns.  You remind us that in the eyes of God our measure as individuals, and our measure as a society, is not determined by wealth or power or station or celebrity, but by how well we hew to Scripture’s call to lift up the poor and the marginalized -- (applause) -- to stand up for justice and against inequality, and to ensure that every human being is able to live in dignity –- because we are all made in the image of God.  (Applause.)

You remind us that “the Lord’s most powerful message” is mercy.  And that means welcoming the stranger with empathy and a truly open heart –- (applause) -- from the refugee who flees war-torn lands to the immigrant who leaves home in search of a better life.  (Applause.)  It means showing compassion and love for the marginalized and the outcast, to those who have suffered, and those who have caused suffering and seek redemption.  You remind us of the costs of war, particularly on the powerless and defenseless, and urge us toward the imperative of peace.  (Applause.)

Holy Father, we are grateful for your invaluable support of our new beginning with the Cuban people -- (applause) -- which holds out the promise of better relations between our countries, greater cooperation across our hemisphere, and a better life for the Cuban people.  We thank you for your passionate voice against the deadly conflicts that ravage the lives of so many men, women and children, and your call for nations to resist the sirens of war and resolve disputes through diplomacy.

You remind us that people are only truly free when they can practice their faith freely.  (Applause.)  Here in the United States, we cherish religious liberty.  It was the basis for so much of what brought us together.  And here in the United States, we cherish our religious liberty, but around the world, at this very moment, children of God, including Christians, are targeted and even killed because of their faith.  Believers are prevented from gathering at their places of worship.  The faithful are imprisoned, and churches are destroyed.  So we stand with you in defense of religious freedom and interfaith dialogue, knowing that people everywhere must be able to live out their faith free from fear and free from intimidation.  (Applause.)

And, Holy Father, you remind us that we have a sacred obligation to protect our planet, God’s magnificent gift to us.  (Applause.)  We support your call to all world leaders to support the communities most vulnerable to changing climate, and to come together to preserve our precious world for future generations.  (Applause.)

Your Holiness, in your words and deeds, you set a profound moral example.  And in these gentle but firm reminders of our obligations to God and to one another, you are shaking us out of complacency.  All of us may, at times, experience discomfort when we contemplate the distance between how we lead our daily lives and what we know to be true, what we know to be right.  But I believe such discomfort is a blessing, for it points to something better.  You shake our conscience from slumber; you call on us to rejoice in Good News, and give us confidence that we can come together in humility and service, and pursue a world that is more loving, more just, and more free.  Here at home and around the world, may our generation heed your call to “never remain on the sidelines of this march of living hope.”

For that great gift of hope, Holy Father, we thank you, and welcome you, with joy and gratitude, to the United States of America.  (Applause.)

HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS:  Good morning.

AUDIENCE:  Good morning!

HIS HOLINESS POPE FRANCIS:  Mr. President, I am deeply grateful for your welcome in the name of the all Americans.  As a son of an immigrant family, I am happy to be a guest in this country, which was largely built by such families.  (Applause.)

I look forward to these days of encounter and dialogue in which I hope to listen to and share many of the hopes and dreams of the American people.  During my visit, I will have the honor of addressing Congress, where I hope, as a brother of this country, to offer words of encouragement to those called to guide the nation’s political future in fidelity to its founding principles.  I will also travel to Philadelphia for the eighth World Meeting of Families to celebrate and support the institutions of marriage and the family at this critical moment in the history of our civilization.  (Applause.)

Mr. President, together with their fellow citizens, American Catholics are committed to building a society which is truly tolerant and inclusive, to safeguarding the rights of individuals and communities, and to rejecting every form of unjust discrimination.  (Applause.)  With countless other people of good will, they are likewise concerned that efforts to build a just and wisely ordered society respect their deepest concerns and the right to religious liberty.  (Applause.)  That freedom reminds one of America’s most precious possessions.  And, as my brothers, the United States Bishops, have reminded us, all are called to be vigilant, precisely as good citizens, to preserve and defend that freedom from everything that would threaten or compromise it.  (Applause.)

Mr. President, I find it encouraging that you are proposing an initiative for reducing air pollution.  (Applause.)  Accepting the urgency, it seems clear to me also that climate change is a problem which can no longer be left to our future generation.  (Applause.)  When it comes to the care of our common home, we are living at a critical moment of history.  We still have time to make the change needed to bring about a sustainable and integral development, for we know that things can change.  (Applause.)

Such change demands on our part a serious and responsible recognition not only of the kind of world we may be leaving to our children, but also to the millions of people living under a system which has overlooked them.  Our common home has been part of this group of the excluded, which cries out to heaven and which today powerfully strikes our homes, our cities, our societies.  To use a telling phrase of the Reverend Martin Luther King, we can say that we have defaulted on a promissory note, and now is the time to honor it.  (Applause.)

We know by faith that the Creator does not abandon us; He never forsakes his loving plan or repents of having created us. Humanity has the ability to work together in building our common home.  As Christians inspired by this certainty, we wish to commit ourselves to the conscious and responsible care of our common home.

Mr. President, the efforts which were recently made to mend broken relationships and to open new doors to cooperation within our human family represent positive steps along the path of reconciliation, justice and freedom.

I would like all men and women of good will in this great nation to support the efforts of the international community to protect the vulnerable in our world and to stimulate integral and inclusive models of development -- (applause) -- so that our brothers and sisters everywhere may know the blessings of peace and prosperity which God wills for all his children.

Mr. President, once again I thank you for your welcome, and I look forward to these days in your country.  God bless America.

Mercedes-Benz GLC 350 e 4MATIC Diamond White - World Premiere

World Premiere of the new Mercedes-Benz GLC 350 e 4MATIC Diamond White.
The characteristic SUV front with a short, succinct overhang, upright, three-dimensional radiator grille with a twin louvre and centrally positioned brand star follows the successful new design line. Striking headlamps, optionally available as LED High Performance lamps, lend the GLC a self-confident look which is further emphasised by their distinctive night design. The bumpers with integrated underguard come in three variants: in addition to the base version there is a version optimised for off-road use with a larger angle of approach/departure, plus a particularly sporty AMG variant.
The side view showcases the almost coupé-like greenhouse, which together with the 118 millimetres larger wheelbase lends the GLC an elegant long profile. This impression is further reinforced by the gently sloping dropping line which is a hallmark of the brand and by the powerful shoulders. The rising lower feature line also enlivens the vehicle's side view. Matt black cladding in the wings, wheels up to a size of 50.8 cm (20 inches) and the optional side running board provide clear indications of the GLC's off-road credentials.
The rear is characterised by the broad, muscular shoulders, the horizontal orientation of the contour lines and the split LED rear lamps featuring a distinctive night design. As on the front, the different bumper variants are available here as well. By integrating all the antennae into the exterior mirrors and the roof spoiler, it has been possible to do away with the fin which has featured on the roof to date.

Mercedes-Benz is setting benchmarks in automotive fascination and innovative power with five world premieres at the IAA 2015. No fewer than four new models expand the line-up of Mercedes Dream Cars – the new C-Class Coupé and the new S-Class Cabriolet, each in two standalone versions from Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG. Also making its debut in Frankfurt is the Concept Intelligent Aerodynamic Automobile, known in short as the Concept IAA. The “Digital Transformer” shows how far advanced Mercedes-Benz already is in the digitalisation of automotive development and production. Another world premiere at the Frankfurt International Motor Show is the new smart cabrio, the only “true” cabriolet in its class.

Marc Marquez Wins Rossi 5th Lorenzo Crashes - MotoGp 2015 San Marino

MotoGp 2015  news: Marc Marquez wins a chaotic San Marino GP, Rossi 5th and Lorenzo crashes.

Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez took a remarkable victory in difficult conditions at the San Marino GP – one of just three circuits where he has not previously won in the premier class (along with Motegi and Phillip Island), but Dani Pedrosa was hindered from seeing his pit board clearly causing him to miss the prime window to swap bikes.

As the race got underway, Marc (2nd) and Dani (4th) maintained their grid positions in the early laps, as rain clouds began to roll in. By lap five, rain flags were displayed and some riders began to pit for their wet setup bikes.

On lap seven, the rain intensified and the majority of riders entered the pits for their wet bikes and after emerging back on track, Marc found himself 6th and Dani 11th. Within a lap they had climbed up to 2nd and 8th respectively as the race began to find its rhythm once more. Marc dropped back behind Rossi with Lorenzo leading and the three riders opened up a gap over the field as Dani continued to improve and moved up to 5th by lap fourteen.

As the track began to dry, riders started to enter to change back to their dry bike setup. Marc came in on lap eighteen whilst Lorenzo and Rossi remained out on track. On lap twenty, Lorenzo and Dani came in to change bikes also, but Rossi continued on his wet bike, waiting until lap twenty one to come in to the pits.

With Rossi entering the pits Marc inherited the race lead and Lorenzo crashed out. He maintained his composure to take a convincing seven second win over Bradley Smith, with Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS Honda rider – Scott Redding – completing the podium, despite a crash early on in the race. Dani – who missed his pit board message to come in sooner – was stuck in traffic after his second bike change and was unable to improve further than 9th.

Marc – 184 points – has closed the gap in the World Championship and is now 63 points behind Rossi and 40 points behind Lorenzo. Dani remains 7th on 109 points.

Lorenzo Vs Valentino Rossi - 2015 Misano MotoGp San Marino

Valentino Rossi against Jeorge Lorenzo at the 2015 Misano MotoGp, San Marino.

Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo secured a perfect pole in front of the Italian crowd this afternoon in qualifying for tomorrow's 'Grand Prix di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini'. He will be joined on the front row by teammate Valentino Rossi who secured third on the grid.

Having broken his previous best lap in this morning's free practice session, Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Jorge Lorenzo kept the pressure on in qualifying this afternoon, taking pole at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Teammate Valentino Rossi also showed a great pace in the 15-minute shoot-out and qualified in third position on the first row.

Lorenzo made his trademark early exit from the pits as the 15-minute session began and immediately dropped a first flying lap of 1'32.357s. On a two-stop strategy, he quickly returned to his pit box with ten minutes remaining for a tyre-change and headed back out less than a minute later.

Back on track, he was ready to put the hammer down and bettered his earlier time, clocking a 1'32.146s, another new circuit best lap record, and extended his lead to 0.443s from his closest rival.

With a little more than four minutes remaining, he came in for his second stop. He returned to the track with over three minutes remaining and, though he was unable to further improve on his best lap, his pole position time remained unchallenged, giving him his third pole of the season by 0.106s.

Though teammate Rossi had revealed his special helmet, that symbolizes how he is being chased by his rivals, he was the last rider to exit pit lane at the start of the Q2 session.

The Doctor started qualifying by setting a low '33 with a first flying lap of 1'33.190 to take provisional fourth. Hot laps by rivals dropped him to ninth, but the Italian had another two laps and set a 1'32.952, moving him up to fifth before going in to the pits with more than six minutes on the clock.

Having been pushed back to seventh, Rossi started his second stint with two and a half minutes of the session remaining. He gave his all and made the crowd go wild when he posted a hot lap of 1'32.358 for third on tomorrow's grid, 0.212s off pole.
